Afraid you lose your sharpness with age? One way to protect the brain from damage caused by aging and diseases like dementia and Alzheimer's is through diet. Here are some foods that will help you keep the brain and memory.

Raspberries, blackberries, cranberries and strawberries contain particularly high concentrations of antioxidants, which have been proven in a research to contribute to brain activities and fighting brain cell damage caused by free radicals. Since the human body does not produce antioxidants by itself, it is important to have a diet that will provide enough of them. According to the study, in addition to the known benefits of antioxidants in blueberries, probably this delicious fruit have positive effects on the brain. This positive effect can prevent memory loss and other changes that occur in the aging process.

salmon
Salmon is one of the most rich fish in omega-3 fatty acids essential for many body functions such as heart activity, hormone production and more. Omega-3 also contributes to a better functioning of the brain and improve attention and concentration. Other fish that contain large amounts of omega-3 are tuna, mackerel and herring, but it also can be found in vegetarian sources like walnuts, canola oil and flax seed.

Olive oil
In 2015 a group of researchers at Rush University Medical Center have developed a nutritional menu aims to combat Alzheimer's disease and reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease for 53 percent. A large part of the menu that they formed was inspired by the Mediterranean diet, has been proven to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's among an aging population. Pure virgin olive oil is one of the cornerstones of the Mediterranean diet, and is rich in polyphenols - are a powerful type of antioxidant. Experiments performed in mice have shown that polyphenols can improve learning and memory and have the potential to also repair damaged brain cells.
